One full mile on the track at Elizabethtown Area High School under the lights.
Register now for the Jim Ryun Prediction Mile, a unique event for runners in Central Pennsylvania a chance to meet Ryan, who was a three-time Olympian and won a silver medal at the 1968 Olympics. He also held several world records in the mile, 1500 meters, 800 meters and 880 yards, and he was the first high schooler to run the mile in under 4 minutes.
The Jim Ryun Prediction Mile will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, under the lights at the Elizabethtown Area High School Track.
It will be a full mile – not 1600 meters. Registration is $20 and is strictly limited to 100 runners. Runners registered by Nov. 1 are guaranteed to receive an exclusive t-shirt in their size.
There will be no refunds. The race will be held regardless of the weather. Deadline to register is Friday, Oct. 21. Registration is limited to 100 runners.
Unlike other 1-mile races, the fastest runner won’t necessarily win the Jim Ryun Prediction mile. When registering, runners will predict their mile time down to one-tenth of a second (for example 7:15.7). The predicted time cannot be slower than 10 minutes. The runner finishing closest to his or her predicted time, without going over, will win. The field will be divided into four sections. The top 5 runners will get a personally autographed book from Jim Ryun. A number of door prizes will be awarded!
